Spen
Stanway, Society President, invited the Society to play
for the Presidents Salver at his home club Ormonde Fields,
Codnor, Derbys.
He is not only a Past Captain of the club, but has held
most positions at Ormonde including Chairman and President
for many years.
Bob White, host club Captain, welcomed the Society and aspired
that everyone had enjoyed the course and facilities.
The President presented a cheque to him for his chosen charity
Treetops Hospice together with cheques for the catering
and greens staff.
The course certainly suited home talent with Doug Birrell
(Ormonde) finishing 1st with 43 points, followed by Gary
Hodgkinson (Ormonde) 2nd on 41 points. Coming 3rd was David
Hardy (Chevin) 37 points on count back.
Godfrey Frankland (Bakewell) won the Veterans Prize (36
points c/b) and Bob Roberts (Ormonde) received the prize
for Best Senior (37 points c/b).
After presenting the Salver and prizes to the winners, the
President thanked Bill Slater (Starter), Fred Pitt (Vice-President)
and Colin Annison (Secretary) for their input, and wished
all a safe journey.
