Horsley
Lodge Golf Club, Derby, hosted the Annual Inter-Counties
competition in 2010.
Teams
from the Captains Societies of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire,
Northamptonshire and Leicestershire & Rutland competed
for the Alan Packer Trophy.
Despite
a very heavy thunderstorm halfway through the afternoon
all the competitors managed to complete their rounds without
too much delay.
Derbyshire
came out on top with an aggregate of 189 points from the
best five scores to count with Northamptonshire coming second
with 185 points on count back from Nottinghamshire. Only
one point separated them from Leicestershire and Rutland.
The five Derbyshire winning players were Derek Northin,
Peter Taylor, John Weselby, David Bull & Nigel Reeve.
Mike Grieff won the Nottinghamshire individual prize with
the Leicestershire winner being Malcolm Riddle and Brendan
Sharkey the Northamptonshire victor. Tony Rogers as the
best over 70.
At the prize presentation the Horsley Lodge Captain Nigel
Reeve welcomed all the players of which there were some
140 from the above counties and the visiting Society Captains
and Presidents made suitable responses.
The Derbyshire Captain Peter Brabbing received the Trophy
on behalf of his players and afforded most grateful thanks
to John Salt and Horsley Lodge for their hospitality.
In conclusion he presented cheques to the staff at Horsley
in gratitude for the service all had received. Nottinghamshire
are to host the 2011 competition.
