David
Boothby, the Club Captain and Geoff Simmonite, a Past Secretary,
of Sitwell Park Golf Club, were at the club to greet the
members of the Society on their first visit to the club.
The scoring was very good with 80% of the players obtaining
between 30 and 40 points. The winner of the Salver for 2010
was Keith Potter from Bakewell Golf Club with 40 points
playing off 8 handicap.
Runner-up, Doug Birrell (Ormonde Fields) had 38 points and
John Simmons (Matlock) claimed third place with 36 points
after count back.
The
Society Assistant Secretary Bill McBay (Burton on Trent)
took home the Veterans Prize and Brian Doig (Cavendish)
was able to quell his disappointment in missing out on third
place by winning the prize for Best Senior with the same
score – 36 points.
Peter
Brabbing, Society Captain, thanked the Society President,
Secretary and Treasurer for their organisation of the day.
All had enjoyed the course, the catering by Brian Thickett
and facilities that Sitwell Park had provided.
Before wishing all present a safe journey home he reminded
the members that the course had been designed by Dr Alister
McKenzie of Augusta fame, and that Sitwell Park G.C. is
to celebrate its Centenary Year in 2013.
