Mickleover Golf Club, Derby, hosted the Annual Three Counties
competition in 2010.
Teams
from the Captains Societies of Derbyshire, Cambridgeshire
and Leicestershire & Rutland competed for the Cam-Der-Leic
Trophy.
After all the competitors had enjoyed a Ham Salad lunch
the match commenced with the Presidents and Captains leading
the way.
The format was that the best 10 Stableford scores from each
county team of 16 to score.
Cambridgeshire were leading all the way and accumulated
a score of 344. It did not appear that they would be beaten
but in the penultimate game Eddie Anderson, Chapel en le
Frith, Derbyshire came in with 44 points to tie the match.
Leicestershire & Rutland also rallied and came in with
338. After a card count back Cambridgeshire retained the
Trophy.
After a warm welcome from Mike Riley the host club Captain,
a Roast Beef dinner was served.
The three principles, Peter Brabbing, Captain Derbyshire,
Steve Knight, the Immediate Past President Leics & Rutland
and Ray Smith, Captain Cambridgeshire made suitable responses
all thanking Mickleover Golf Club for their courtesy and
hospitality.
It is understood that the 2011 fixture will be held at Abbotsley
Cambridgeshire.
