Stockport
Golf Club, nr Manchester, once again hosted the Millennium
Salver competition, and being near Manchester it rained
of course!!
The first 3 ball teed off at noon, however by the time they
reached the 9th the weather had eased and the later starters
had the better of the conditions.
The winner of the competition was Tony Cooper (Erewash Valley)
playing in the last 3 ball. He returned a score of 39 points
winning from Peter Taylor (Bondhay) also 39 points over
the last 6 holes. A close 3rd came from Phil Langham (Ormonde
Fields) 39 points as well but with an inferior back nine.
Arnie Bennett (Cavendish) won the Seniors Prize and John
Weselby (Matlock) received the prize for Best Veteran.
The Alan Marchington Millennium Salver was presented to
the winner by the Society Captain for 2009 John Carr (Cavendish),
congratulating Stockport Golf Club for the superb facilities
afforded, and concluded by thanking the Officers of the
Society for the arrangements and card marking assistance.
