The Society was cordially greeted on a fine sunny day at Burton Golf Club for the Annual Founders Trophy competition. Graham Duckmanton, (Club Secretary) and Gary Stafford (Club Professional) were on hand to help to ensure that the day went well.

Unfortunately David Buchanan Burton on Trent 2009 Captain was unable to attend, however Bill McBay, a past captain of the Society and Burton G. C. acted in admirably his stead.

Home club players used their local knowledge to good effect. The winner Richard Wileman (34 points), Bill McBay (33points) the best veteran (David Ellerton) were all Burton members. Geoff Holmes (Bakewell), Brian Jennings (Pastures), & Alan Moore ( Pastures) filling the minor placings.

Senior prizes were won by Alastiar Grant ( Chapel en le Frith) & Kevin Leatherland (Mickleover)

The Society Captain, John Carr, presented a cheque to the Bill McBay for the home clubs Captains charity the “St Giles Hospice” as well as gratuities to the greens and catering staff.

Eric Grattage (Matlock) has recently had an operation, but his recovery is such that the Society Captain in 2006 was able to travel to Matlock, though not to play. All were delighted at his progress and Eric reported that he hoped to play in the final competition of the season the Presidents Salver at Matlock on 26th August.
