Four
Captains Societies, Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland,
Northamptonshire & Nottinghamshire, contested for the
Alan Packer Trophy at Lingdale Golf Club.
Some
168 players participated, 42 from each county. The team
prize was awarded to the county with the best 5 scores to
count. The winning county in 2009 being Nottinghamshire.
Derbyshire came 3rd.
The
Derbyshire individual winner was Arnie Bennett (Cavendish)
with 37 points.
John
Collings, the winning Nottinghamshire Captain, expressed
his thanks to Lingdale Golf Club for hosting the event and
the excellence of the facilities afforded. Malcolm Carrington,
Lingdale Captain 2009, acknowledged the comments stating
how pleased his club was to be able to cater for such a
large event.
John
Carr, the Derbyshire Captain, announced that the competition
would be held in at Horsley Lodge Golf Club near Derby in
2010 and looked forward to meeting many of today’s
players there on Wednesday July 13th.
