The
43rd playing of the Sydney Cartwright Salver competition
was kindly hosted by Mickleover Golf Club Derby. John Sadler,
Mickleover Club Captain, Tim Coxon, Club Professional, Joy
the Stewardess and Graham Finney, the Club Secretary were
all on hand to greet the members and were all thanked by
John Carr, Society Captain, for providing facilities that
were enjoyed by all.
Spen
Stanway, Society President acted as starter for some 70
members playing on a sunny and showery day. Mickleover players
filled First and Second places Don Hickey coming out on
top with 42 points from Tony Annis who returned 40 points.
Colin Barnard (Ex Shirland) clinched Third Place with 39
points.
The Best Senior on the day was Ray Johnson of Derby G. C.
and Best Veteran was Brian Cooper (Ex Stanedge).
The
Captain presented a cheque to the Mickleover Captain for
his charity the “Air Ambulance” and concluded
by looking forward to seeing as many members as possible
at his Captains Day at Cavendish on 16th June.
